Winter 10
Ahh, here comes that awkward time of the year where I have to use both 09 and 10 to prevent confusing people as to which year we’re on – however, as the majority of shows actually begin in 2010, I shall refer to it as ‘Winter 10’ – which just sounds like an anime in of itself.
Currently….15 shows. It can’t just be me who thinks that’s an extremely small batch of shows for one season? Maybe there will be more eventually. But it doesn’t seem to be bad.
Durarara!! should be promising, being from the author, staff and studio of Baccano!! and having an irish headless horsewoman on a motorbike. SoRaNoWoTo is part of TV Tokyo’s intriguing new “Power of Anime” timeslot, which will be for anime-original series. It has owls. Katanagatari exhibits an interesting art style, and is from the author of Bakemonogatari, which should garner interest. Hanamaru Kindergarten is Gainax’s new troll show about extremely young kids, so …eh, make of that what you will. Baka to Test and Qwaser further pushes back the boundaries of taste (davidmitchelllol) with using furry avatars to cheat in school and magical judeo-christian GRIMDARK characters who drink breast milk. yeah. Okamikakushi seems to be a cousin of Higurashi, being from Ryukisihi07 himself and presenting a similar scenario – it follows a new trend of SCYTHES EVERYWHERE. The rest follows ordinary high school students who do things and things happen, in some cases becoming butlers or starting clubs devoted entirely to underwear, often in sequels. And there’s Kewpie, whatever that is.
Oh, and i’ve decided to go all abstract and creative with my formats. Love it or leave it.
With havin so much content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright violation? My site has a lot of unique content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my authorization. Do you know any ways to help stop content from being ripped off? I’d genuinely appreciate it.

You know, for such a small selection of anime, there’s actually a high percentage of awesomeness in there.

I simply don’t know anything about it. I didn’t watch Bakkano either, so…
Sure, I’ll give it a chance later, some other shows as well, there might be hidden gems there after all, like always.

I don’t know if anybody noticed. But there’s 15+ titles this season. “Quality over quantity,” maybe. But what about all that news about how workers in the anime industry are suffering and jobs being outsourced?
And hello there. I’m the guy who’s having a hard time enjoying anime since all the male leads are pathetic compared to the females herein. The LAST GOOD anime I watched was Juuden-chan. (Along with Vampire Knight, Regios, Nabari no Ou, and Black Butler.)
So yeah. I wish the lot of anime didn’t SUCK all the time.

Isn’t Cat Shit One supposed to be airing this Winter season?
I hope “Ookamikakushi” and “Durarara!!” live up to the “* No Nau Koro Ni” and “Baccano!” titles. Dance in the Vampire Bund is lookin pretty good as well.

Like seriously. I love having a nice preview I can do because of your outstanding work. It makes my job just a bit (no, a LOT) easier :D Keep up the pimp work.

i know what kewpie is.
i am utterly terrified at the fact that an anime will be based on it.
on another note: will probably watch okami kakushi, because the picture looks interesting.

Durarara looks like so much fun, I like how they dress like real Japanese kids.
The premiere of Kuroshitsuji season 2 was scheduled for January last I heard.

There are seriously less moe shows this season than in seasons past… Or is that just the go-to complaint for every anime season now?
Solaris.N said this on November 6, 2009 at 12:31 AM |
Wow winter 2010 stuff already?? that was fast. Looks like there’s a lot of interesting ones
Ruby said this on October 31, 2009 at 6:16 PM |
I can’t say I’m crazy about the new season. Durara looks interesting and I’ll watch the 3rd Nodame series, but for the others… too many moe-loli series.
SaiyaGin said this on October 31, 2009 at 7:34 AM |
So much WIN this season. Time and again, Winter proves to be my lucky time of year for shows.
ThatGuyWithTheHat said this on October 31, 2009 at 4:48 AM |
Awesome chart. But with all do respect, you might want to adjust the font sizes and color for your title headings to make it more uniform. It makes it easier to read and looks cleaner too. Something to consider in your V2 and so on.
Thank you for all your hard work.

Yay! Chu-bra! I’ve been looking forward to that one!
Steven Den Beste said this on October 31, 2009 at 12:30 AM |
Let’s hope for a quality > quantity season.
DRRR, Bund, Sora no Oto and Okami are the ones I’ve been looking forward to the most, Katanagatari seems interesting and Quasar is one of those that look really great on manga, but the anime has to come out really well executed for it to be worth it (and unfortunately the probability of the sexuality being commercially abused in the adaptation is very big).
Nodame and Hoshi Mittsu are also sequels to very solid anime, so this looks like it’ll be a very satisfying season.
RandomOugi said this on October 30, 2009 at 11:57 PM |
A quick name fix under So Ra No Wo To – main character’s name is “Kanata,” not “Kumika.”
Chart looks great btw.
Lydia said this on October 30, 2009 at 11:57 PM |
I’ll probably check out 8 or 9 of them (maybe more if I see I have enough time to watch them). Nodame Cantablie is the only one I will watch for sure since I have seen the seasons before this one.
I thought you were kidding about a club devoted entirely to underwear but I guess not. It sounds very strange….it would have to be extremely funny or something for me to watch it.

Shugoi! There are some worth-checking anime in there and also…
I LOVE THE NEW STYLE :DDD
Eri said this on October 30, 2009 at 12:53 PM |
The corny snowflake is perfectly corny.
You know, for such a small selection of anime, there’s actually a high percentage of awesomeness in there. We have violent Shaft, Mukya and Gyabo, moar wacky Nision, an entire timeslot devoted to anime original projects, Gainax taking the piss, moar evil-grinning lolis and best of all, DRRRR!!!!!
Scamp said this on October 30, 2009 at 11:49 AM |
I’d like to point out a correction with the English translation of Ookamikakushi. Going with the same context of Onikakushi (demoned away/taken away by the demon), it should follow with ookami (wolf god). It’s hard to put a good title though.
And the author for Ookamikakushi’s story is Ryukishi07 from 07th Expansion. It was originally a game for the PSP by Konami. Character design was by Peach-Pit of the Rozen Maiden fame.
Christen said this on October 30, 2009 at 7:24 AM |
I like how your design becomes better and better each season.
Keep up the good work.
As for anime itself, literally nothing catches my interest. And MOE MOE MOE MOE MOE everywhere.
This is a sad day.
eurekaland said this on October 30, 2009 at 6:04 AM |
What about Durarara!!…the anime adaptation from Ryougo Narita, author of Baccano?
Why it doesn’t catch your interest? For me,all of the anime listed above,THIS anime are better than all the MOE shit that airs nowdays.
Watch this trailer and think about it:

The design is pretty fucking sexy if you ask me.
And Winter/Summer seasons never have too much airing in them anyway. Last Winter only had 25 series airing on TV, and only 3 or 4 ran for more than one season.
